I have a 1926 T coupe hot rod that I need to decide what engine to use. To install a sbc V8 you have to notch the firewall or extend the engine bay, neither of which I want to do. I wanted to use a used, older carburated 4.3 liter Chev V6, but everything you find like that has a million miles on it. I don't really want to rebuild an engine in the middle of building the hotrod. My question is: What does it take to install one of the newer, computer controlled (say vortec) 4.3 V6's? I know nothing about the newer engines with computers and such. What all do you have to get from the donor car?
Do you have to get all the wiring and the computer with the engine? Do you think an old school guy like me can work through an install like this? I know when I look under the hood of these new cars, my head spins!
