I am rebuilding a BBC 427, Dec. 1968 block for my 69 Camaro. I attached a Flow chart from a Machine shop that ported the new /never used 14011077 GM, open chamber, 118 cc, round exhaust port, Rectangular large port cylinder heads, 2.190 intake valve and 1.94 0r 1.88 not sure on the exhaust exhaust valves, Winters aluminum heads using the Winters aluminum intake. It is standard bore now , but will be bored .30 over.
I am using the stock 4346 800 cfm Holley, this is a dual feed vacuum secondary carb.
My goals are stock era chrome valve covers, use roller rockers that fit into these. I am leaning toward Comp Cam components for now. Roller cam and lifters. Most likely will get a K-kit through Comp Cams. I want to run pump gas 91 oct to 93 octane. I want to have enough vacuum to run RS headlamps and power brakes. I have been told to use a piston with 36cc to 38cc dome, not sure if this is correct. I have been told that the Aluminum heads lower the compression ratio by approximately 1. I am looking to have 10:1 to 10.5:1 compression. I am using a stock cross drilled tufftrided crank. 2.200 inch journals for rods and 2.749 inches for the main journals.
I want a good piston and rods. I am only able to find the "Ross" piston that has 36 cc dome at this point.
It will be street driven and the occasional spirited driving. Shooting for 500hp.
I have the motor at the machine shop now getting bored. This motor has NOT been decked. Going into a manual shift transmission car.
Please help with Piston brand, rods, and cam grind suggestions. I want quality parts, not low budget stuff.
Thanks for your help. If you need more numbers or information please ask I am not schooled up on engine stuff yet!
