wiped cam lobe and oil consumption

While reading various threads on this forum yesterday I read a post by OLDBOGIE which I believe he said a wiped cam will increase oil consumption.

I don't understand the reasons for this. OLDBOGIE, if your listening could you educate me on this please. Happy to hear from any other knowledgeable member also. Thanks.
