I am finishing up a 289 right now for my '63 Fairlane. I actually had it finished and ran it on a stand before but the pin at the end of my cam was too long (came with a kit I should have looked at it more before putting it together though) and it shaved off on my water pump. Luckily nothing was damaged and I am just going to send back this cam and get a new one. Anyways my plan is to either get a 351 Windsor or 390 block once the car is running and build that and swap out the 289. My question is would that be worth it or should I just keep the 289? How beefy should I take the 289 before just it would just make more sense to build something new? Right now it is already bored out and in the process of switching to roller rockers and the cam I am looking at is a .496 lift. Should I continue with this or get it running and save up and build the 351? Also the 289 has a sleeve from a nice sized bit missing out of a cylinder. (Attached pictures of the sleeved cylinder and the motor)
