I have a '80 model 355 roller in my street rod. It has a Mallory HEI, Patriot Freedom heads, new Moroso wires, new plugs, new coil, distributor cap, Edelbrock RPM Air Gap aluminum intake, Edelbrock 650 Thunder carb. I don't know what the cam is, all I know is that it is big, it pulls 8" vacuum at idle from the carb vacuum port. I recently installed a manual advance in the distributor after removing the vacuum advance.
The engine just started bogging down when I accelerate full throttle. I have changed everything I could think of, but it still bogs down when I put the pedal to the medal. On the up side it seems to do better on the top end. It used to run out of steam at 5800 RPM, but now will go over 6000. I have to pedal it to get past the bogging down, but after it gets past that it really goes.
