So my Mom needs to rebuild the 327 in her '67 Impala. Unfortunately, we don't have the money just lying around for it right now. So I'd love to be able to pull the '68 350 out of my '69 LeMans and swap it over on a weekend when she is gone as a surprise. Her car is much nicer than mine, so I'd love for her to be able to drive hers.
So.... as someone who has never swapped an engine before... is this a plausible swap? I figured they're both GM smallblocks, within a year of each other, so they must be pretty close, right? I understand I'll probably need new motor mounts, but what else could possibly get in my way? Driveshaft/tranny? I'd love any input on this idea!
Details:
Donor Car is a 1969 Pontiac LeMans with a 350 "Rebuilt from a '68 block" mated to a Turbo350. No accessories besides power steering.
Receiving Car is a 1967 Chevrolet Impala with the original 327 mated to a Powerglide. Has power steering and AC
