454 suggestions

So I have a gen 3 454 that i was told came out of a boat. I have older heads for it. From what i can tell the whole bottom end is standard specs and very clean. I plan on putting this in my 54 chevy gasser project. I have mainly everything to build the engine but a cam kit and carbs. I plan on using a vintage weiland tunnel ram. Before i buy anything else i would like to know what cam and carbs i should use.Also i dont have a transmission yet either. Im aiming for more of a driver than drag car. I also would like to do as little machine work as possible. I got this project cheap and just wanna build it and make a good buck. Thanks!
