I have a Cliff Ruggles rebuilt q-jet on my 350 in a C20 pickup. I only did some minor adjustments on it when I installed it because he tested it on a similar 350. The other day I decide to tune on it to try to increase the vacuum. I was able to richen the mixture screws to get another 1" of vacuum. Yesterday I hooked up my LC-1 wideband to see what it was doing. At initial startup with the choke on I was reading 14.7. I took it out for a drive and it moved between 13.5 and 14.7 at cruise. When I hit the gas it goes to 14.7 until I am on it far enough and into it far enough it goes to 12.6 After it warmed up it would be between 11.5 and 12.6. After I richened the mixture I would get some pop out of the exhaust on deceleration.
The question is what do I need to do the get more fuel during light acceleration? The truck has plenty of power after it starts getting fuel and I am at 12.6. Do I need to adjust the apt? or rejet?
The gauge on the LC-1 bounces between the numbers on the gauge which are 11.5 12.6 13.5 14.7 and 15.1 and further lean so there are no real values until I hook up the laptop.
