Before the 465cfm I had a 600cfm on the car which wouldnt idle also. Once or twice the 600cfm magically would idle at random times but 98% of the time I was keeping the car alive with my foot. Performance wasnt that great and fuel economy was meh. I put the 600cfm on just for kicks until I could find a 465cfm and I put it on a couple of days ago...and it wont idle either. I took the carb apart, soaked and brushed everything I could with simple green and sprayed all the passages with carb cleaner (and the carb cleaner exited the body). I used the bowls, secondary metering plate, and 600cfm baseplate at first since I didnt want to clean the 465cfm baseplate but eventually switched to the 465 baseplate and the car still wont idle. I read somewhere that this could be caused by the wrong baseplate gasket so I tried the other ones I thought could work with no success, still have to nurse the car at idle. If I turn the idle screw in nothing happens to my idle but it will stick at the rpms it probably should be idling at if it were working properly before dying. If I take my foot off the gas the car will probably die in about 3 seconds or less
Im pulling no vacuum at "idle" but it does go up if I rev. Performance and fuel economy is very good with the 465 but I think it could be a bit better. Ive got fuel pressure and im not dumping gas into the intake at idle from what I can see or smell. What are the chances that I have two bad metering blocks? Any idea what my problem could be?
