My 1998 K3500 crew cab (tow vehicle) needs a new driveline. The vortec 350 and 4L80E are wore out and finances are not good enough to rebuild them so...
I have a 1972 402 BBC from a chevelle(58K mi) and a rebuilt TH 475(motorhome spare) plus an adapter to mount the BW T case and correct the length difference from 4l80E. Also have a MSD crank trigger with the same 4 tooth trigger as the factory vortec. I Have around 1.2G to re bearing/ring, oil pump, timing chain, new gasket and enhance the 402
I would like to keep enough of the factory PCM to 1-keep the tach and speedometer working and 2- keep it easy to go back to 4l80E when cash allows.
I know it fits(have a 427 TB in 93 K3500) but have never played with the baby rat motor to know what cam/ intake/ carb/header tube size to use for torque, and no idea if I keep the vortec distributor/coil if the timing curve will be even close to what's needed for timing.
Idea's anyone?
