SBC - RPM drops when elec fan turns on

I am running a SBC motor with a 160 amp alternator, new battery etc. I have installed an electric fan and shroud from a 1995 Ford Thunderbird since the built in shroud fits my radiator perfect. The fan takes about 45 amps to run and spikes to 85 amps when it turns on. The problems is when the fan is running the engine RPMs drop off a little. I checked engine vacuum and it drops as well when the fan is on. Engine normally has about 16in vacuum in park at 1,000 rpm. When fan is on it drops to 14 or 13 in of vacuum. I run a relay and fan is connected to the battery. It appears that it is robbing power/spark from the ignition when the fan comes on. Has anyone experienced this or have any solutions. The engine runs very cool 165* to 180* with this set up even hot Florida weather. Thanks in advance for the help.
