Got my custom cam today, it's a copy of the XR288HR Comp grind except on a 113LSA.
I know its an oddball grind but the application (357ci SBC) needs the stretch on the top end for autocrossing.
I will need a set of springs and I have my doubts that the common beehive are going to be enough, I've seen recommendations of the Bulletcams VS 2700 spring but few who turn their engines as high.
Hydraulic lifters still need to be selected as well as the springs and pushrods, the hard redline will be 7500 but a valve train capable of 8000 would be nice. Probably need a rev kit as well to keep it under control, sure would like to be able to run the factory lightweight retainers with a single spring but not sure that's possible considering the goals.
Current ovate wire springs are the following specs:
Assembled height= 1.780"
Seat Pressure= 100pds
Bind height= 1.220"
Rate =332pd/in
OD=1.320"
ID= 0.802"
Cam lift is 0.520/0.540" with 1.5:1 rockers but would like to run the 1.6:1 to give a little more lift of 0.554/0.576".
Any suggestions on springs and hydraulic lifters, remember this will only be brief runs up to redline not sustained for more than a few seconds, similar duty to drag racing.
