Hi all,
Just picked up a decent 1972 K10 longbed, been converted over to a 396. Engine runs great and I don't have any big plans, seems to be a pretty stock-type build. Anyway it has a factory four barrel intake on it with a square-to-spread bore adapter and a Carter AFB.
Had the carburetor off to fix a vacuum leak and it looks like someone tried to grind the primary holes on the intake to make them big enough to accommodate the Carter before giving up and going with the spacer. So basically, the intake is trash.
What's a solid choice for an intake for this application? Not looking for any big power numbers, just something that will complement a stock 396. In the Pontiac world, a lot of folks are really high on the factory iron intakes for milder builds. Does that same line of thinking apply in BBC land, or should I just drop a Performer on it and call it a day?
All things considered, I would like to just keep running the Carter, it seems to be in good shape.
Thanks,
Steve
