Choke on it...

Hi y'all,
I'm finally done w/dropping a nice 383 crate into my 68 Chevelle, I'de like to bolt on a freshly rebuilt never-used Demon 750 V.S carb I'de like to a eddie dual plane RPM Intk. It has an electric choke which I know can sometimes be finicky to set, depending on the temp. & altitude. I live in S.B California where its basically summer almost year round (sea level) My guy already pre-tuned it for a similar motor while rebuilding it (my crate wasnt in yet..) My question is:
A. Do I really need a choke considering where I live?
B. I know I have to hook up the choke pwr. wire to a "key-on" source only, I dont feel like feeding yet another wire through my firewall, can I connect the elec.chk. pwr. wire directly to the 12 volt post on my new single wire alternator, or to my (MSD) pos. coil side? I know I could hunt one down, but it would save me time if anybody could suggest a decent /EZ access/key-on/12V source:confused:
Many thanx...Alan:thumbup::thumbup:
