I bought an S-10 that had been sitting for an undetermined amount of time. When I got it home and put a starter in, it fired up right away but it was putting out some mostly grayish smoke. Later I noticed there was oil in my antifreeze. I pretty much thought it was a head gasket. After taking off the intake I found one half of the plenum and intake was really clean while the other half was probably normal carbon deposits. I pretty much know that indicates a problem with the spider. The top of the block is really clean. No sludge anyway. My dilemma is if I should go ahead and take the heads off or just fix my fuel problem , new intake gaskets, and tune up. After finding reference to a common intake gasket problem on these motors Im wanting to just put it back together. I know a compression test would help give me a better idea of what to do, I just dont have a tester. Looking for a lil advice is all.
