A handicapped friend of mine bought a L31 to build for his El Camino. We are going to use the block and heads, Scat 9000 crank, Scat rods and forged pistons, maybe Probe. The block has two bolt mains so I was thinking 355 instead of 383. either way rpm's will be kept under 6000. The car will have 9'' 4.11 and a 700R4 trans. I read what tech inspector said about Vortec heads, deck and quench, and roller cam specs and torque converters. My friend has a machine shop so we are okay there. I just can't make up my mind on what the two bolt mains are good for. The 355 would be good for 400 hp. Thought's anyone?
