Engine Overheated, to pull or not to pull?

I had a lower radiator hose burst this morning on my daily driver , 84 c-10, 350,350. The engine over heated pretty bad , it melted the connector on the temperature sensor off, its plastic. I replaced the hose and filled it with 5 gallons of water. It was hard to start but it did start with throttle half pressed and had a small miss to it. Looking out back there was a little steam coming out of the pipes that went away.

I drove it home and checked the water added a little more and it still had some steam coming out that went away again, then there was a small "puff" of steam that went a way. I let it cool went out and open the radiator and turned it on and did see some bubbles coming thru the the water?

I am a little confused at this point . Dont really have the time to spend tracking down the problem, cracked head, cracked engine, bad head gasket unless there is a quick check to do so? I put the engine in about 2 years ago and am pretty confident with the machine shop. As bad as it over heated I am wondering if it will be best to pull it and send it to the shop have them fix and back in 4 days?
